Scholarship Fair takes Turner Field, preps students for college

ATLANTA -- The third annual "I Am College Material" Scholarship Fair will be held in Turner Field's 755 Club, on November 13 from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m.

The Scholarship Academy, along with Atlanta City Councilman Aaron Watson, Post 2 At-Large and the Atlanta Braves Foundation will?help focus on scholarships?opportunities?for high school upperclassmen. They?will also work to?connect scholarships to first-generation college students, those?from low-income families and those with an average GPA.

Founder Jessica Johnson said, "With the pursuit of higher education becoming increasingly expensive, The Scholarship Academy provides students with effective training such as negotiating a financial?aid package, mock interviews and drafting personal statements."

According to Watson, the Scholarship Academy has reduced college debt by $14,000.

The fair coincides with National Scholarship Month. Students at the fair will have their scholarship essay reviewed by Gates Millennium Scholars.
