Job Description
PURPOSE: The Director, GSEP
Technology provides hands-on leadership and administration of a broad-range of technology-based activities for the Graduate School of
Education and Psychology (GSEP) to enhance and support technology services for faculty, staff, and students.
DUTIES: Responsible for studying, understanding new and emerging technologies and their application and usefulness to GSEP. Determine cost, benefit and feasibility of new technologies to support GSEP instructional and administrative objectives and processes. Determine requirement and feasibility of development of internal web and database applications and work with technical staff to architect and implement solutions. Direct technical project planning and execution ensuring timely completion to specification, on time and under budget. Oversee selection and purchase of all GSEP technology resources including hardware, software and services.
Responsible for aligning the IT strategy, services, investment decisions, and delivery structures and processes with the strategic direction of the enterprise. Partners with senior business leaders to develop an integrated IT and business strategy. Educates business leaders about how to maximize the value of IT and partners with them to demonstrate the value of IT investments. Participates in the governance board that defines the IT mission, oversees operations, and determines IT investments, pricing, and product strategies. Acts as champion for acceptance of the business technology plan within the organization. Sponsors collaborative planning processes to ensure high-quality services at optimal cost for the enterprise.
Approves IT spending within functional areas. Approves the appropriate pricing models and chargeback schemes for IT services provided. Adopts pricing and service models that allow the organization to recover costs, fuel investment, and influence business behavior. Initiates and ensures implementation of improvement processes that impact customer satisfaction and relationships. Approves the business technology and human resources plan for assigned areas. Meets regularly with team to gather work status. Discusses work progress and obstacles. Provides advice, guidance, encouragement, and constructive feedback.
Creates synergies with other IT areas. Establishes individual and organizational objectives that are aligned with overall IT and business goals. Documents and presents performance assessments. Implements organizational practices for staffing, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), diversity, performance management, development, reward and recognition, and retention. Ensures staff has the resources and skills needed to support all work. Champions workforce deployment of IT organization. Generates appropriate communication for mitigating the disruption of change. Develops timelines and action steps for anticipating and framing the type of change. Manages change within the IT organization. Makes buy versus build decisions and establishes strategic relationships with key IT vendors. Uphold the University mission through work performed. Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills/Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Bachelor's degree required; master's degree preferred; eight to ten
years professional experience in the technology field with at least three years experience in technology planning, management and systems at
an equivalent level of the responsibilities required, preferably in higher education. Experience with virtualized server environment and
storage infrastructure including SAN, NAS, VDI required; ability to: manage multiple projects with competing deadlines, sit for extended
periods of time to work on a computer, stand to deliver presentations, lift and move computer equipment, travel to other centers and
meetings required.
The preferred candidate will have demonstrated skills and experience in strategic planning, i.e. ability to analyze technology-related information, situations, problems, policies and procedures; will be proficient with various software packages including , web authoring and development software, CRM software, content management software.
